Day School – Homeschooling done for you

Dog Training Cody

With Day School you can expect to:

  • Restore the peace around the house.
  • Prevent training the dog from falling off the radar because you’re already over-scheduled.
  • Allow a highly experienced, professional dog trainer to do get the needed behavior change at an accelerate the pace. You reach your goals much sooner; instead of struggling between weekly lessons.
  • Save you time from having to do all the teaching.
  • Prevent frustration for both you and your dog because everyone is learning something new at the same time. Instead, dive into a relationship where communication is clear for both.

The trainer visits your dog 3-5 times per week for hour-long training sessions, socialization trips or outings to work on behavior modification and proofing the taught behaviors. You are welcome to watch or use the time otherwise.

Every 3-5 sessions, you attend a transfer lesson to learn about and practice your dog’s new found skills with the help of the trainer. Instead of you homeschooling your dog yourself, you’ll just be helping with homework.

Note: Day School packages are booked after an Initial Consultation and are customized for you based on your goals and needs. Pricing will reflect program length, follow up and days per week.

FAQ about Day School

Will I need to practice at all?

Yes. Day School’s goal is that the trainer develops the skill and you maintain it. Without regular practice, your dog is likely to revert to old habits.

Do I need to be there during training?

Nope! You can conveniently be out at work or doing the things you need to get done during the training sessions.

You are only needed to be present for the transfer and follow up sessions. Your presence and attention at these sessions are essential for you to get the maximum benefits of your program.

What is your service area for Day School?

Day School service is available in Cody/Wyoming city limits. Please inquire pricing for additional locations.

How long is the program going to be?

Program length will be dictated by your goals and number of sessions per week. In order to make notable changes to your dog’s behavior, time is needed to teach the skills and then proof them to work in real life. Most Day School programs run 4-6 weeks but will be customized to meet your needs.

What is a transfer session?

This is the lesson with you and the trainer and is essential to your success. You get to learn how to get the maximum benefit of your sidekick’s new found skills. Instead of spending all the time learning how to build the skills, you just get to maintain them; given to you in easy, small bites.

What is included in the program?

We want this program to help you and your dog thrive. Besides the agreed upon number of sessions, we include regular videos of training progress and you will have lifelong access to our skill training video library.

What will you teach my dog?

Training plans are 100% customized to your dog’s evaluation and your goals. The training plan will be discussed extensively at the consultation

What kind of training method do you use with my dog?

307HappyDog specializes in FearFree and reward based training. We do not support the use of choke, prong or shock collars on the dogs in our care. Dogs are motivated with treats, play, attention, and real life rewards (going for a walk, getting out a door, sniffing, etc.). Rules and boundaries are installed in a kind manner. Self control and listening skills are built, good habits are formed and bad ones eliminated. No yelling or yanking required!

What do I need to provide?

You will be asked to provide some food/treats if your dog has dietary restrictions, favorite toys, leash and collar/harness.

Who will train my dog?

Our owner Sabine Born does all the private training at 307HappyDog. She is CPDT-KA and FearFree certified and has trained hundreds of dogs and owners to become teh best team. Learn more about her here.
