Service Dog Training Program

This program will train a handler and dog to be a psychiatric or mobility service dog team. A successful service dog must be safe, appropriate, and unobtrusive in public, and they must perform tasks that mitigate their handler’s disability. Both of these will be taught in this program.
Location:
Gestalt Studios, 440 W Park St, Powell, WY
Number of participants per course:
3-6 per course (2 minimum), private training sessions can be added if needed.
Requirements to sign up for Course 1:
Proof of up to date vaccinations
Pass the CGC (Canine Good Citizen) test, Attend the informational meeting.

Course 1:
Service Dog Prep, investment $300
This 6 week course builds the foundation for a successful service dog. We will build on all base skills learned in the CGC and teach foundation service dog skills, as well as discussing SD etiquette.
Course 2:
Task Training, investment $300
This 6 week course will teach the service dog tasks that each team requires. We will work to build the skills the dog needs to be a life changing partner. This course will also maintain the training from Service Dog Prep.
Course 3:
Attend and pass CGCA (Community Canine Good Citizen) class with Sabine
Course 4:
Public Access, investment $350
This 7 week course takes place out in public and put all the training from the previous courses into practice. The teams will be training to pass the Assistance Dogs International Public Access Test and use their tasks in the real world. At the end of the course, they will take the test, and if they pass they graduate as a SD team.

I have a master’s degree in Canine Life Sciences from Bergin University as well as a certificate of completion from their Service Dog Seminar.”
